Schemes to Dreams - Bedrooms

Continuing the 'Schemes to Dreams' series with a focus on one of the key rooms in any house - bedrooms. Well designed and thoughtfully organised, these rooms are sanctuaries for the weary, a soothing retreat where you can leave the stresses of the day at the door. Once rested, you should emerge restored, with renewed energy for the day ahead.

Colorful mood board for main bedroom interior design

The scheme: a garden level bedroom in Kensington in calming, soft, fresh green and cream, creating a connection with the garden beyond the French windows.

Kensington main bedroom, with patterned wallpaper and fabric headboard

The dream: morning coffee in bed. The owner's favourite raspberry linen is used on a custom headboard, with tones echoed in the bedspread, lampshades and artwork.

Red, blue, yellow mood board for guest bedroom interior design

The scheme: a guest bedroom to be occupied from time to time by the couple's grown up children. It needed to be not too feminine nor too masculine.

Chelsea blue and yellow guest bedroom,

The dream: plenty of pattern, with the blue and white scheme energised by a red-stained timber bedside table and a sunny yellow linen bedspread.

Romantic and colorful mood board for main bedroom interior design

The scheme: the prettiest bedroom scheme for the main bedroom in a mansion block apartment. No remodelling was needed but the original décor was 'developer dreary' and far from inviting.

Chelsea romantic and elegant main bedroom

The dream: the finished room is charming, elegant and restful. A long mirror amplifies the space in the dressing area and the apple-green gloss paint on the wardrobe doors catches the light from the bathroom window.

Romantic and soft mood board for main bedroom interior design

The scheme: a brief for a 'pretty, feminine and calming' room - it had to be rose buds, rattan and a 'bunny soft' textured cream rug.

Notting Hill romantic main bedroom

he dream: soft pink walls and a  deep-buttoned pink linen headboard contrast with the floral fabrics. A hand-made silk shade above the bed hangs from the sky-blue painted ceiling and the existing joinery is painted with a hint of pink. Could this really be just a short (bunny) hop away from the bustling Portobello Road?

A good interior designer will ask you how you want to feel in a room as well as how you want to use the space and then come up with practical and beautiful solutions.
