Design Dopamine
If you are lacking a little dopamine in your life, here are some rooms we designed where we have embraced zesty colours that add just the right amount of sunshine so that you can't help but smile and feel uplifted, whatever your style.
The hand-made cushion is in 'Milano Linen', the most perfect yellow that sings happily like a little canary on the rusty orange armchair.
In a different house, this same fabric features on a headboard and cuts through the otherwise blue and white scheme in a guest bedroom.
Zellige tiles pack a punch of happy in the windowless ensuite shower room.
And finally, 'Persian' from Edward Bulmer covers the walls and ceiling in a little entrance- cum-boot room creating instant happiness for the owners as they come home.
If you read interiors magazines you might know there has been a lot made of the 'unexpected red' theory and recently I saw an article about 'unexpected blue.' I am advocating for 'unexpected yellow' (or orange) - you heard it here first.
If you worry about going all-in and painting your walls yellow (and I do agree, this colour has a place and isn't for everyone) you could start small and just add a splash or hit here and there, for example with a lamp base or shade, a side table or some glassware to add some zip to your world.
