Inspiration is in the detail

The entrance hall - Sculptural light by Cox London in the Hall of Treasures by Maison Artefact at WOW!house 2025

Inspiration is the springboard to creating design magic for our clients and comes from an infinite number of places and at any time.  We are swamped with images of perfectly finished interiors on Instagram and Pinterest, but we shouldn't be tempted to slavishly copy or even imitate. That is disrespectful both to our design contemporaries and also to our clients, who deserve to have their hopes and dreams interpreted in a singular way, not offered a pastiche of something seen elsewhere. At art exhibitions, in books about travel and nature we can find a surprising colour combination or mix of textures to spark an idea. And nature itself. The natural world never gets it wrong. Picture left: Sculptural light by Cox London in the Hall of Treasures by Maison Artefact at WOW!house 2025, inspired by the majestic oak. From the obvious sources of colour inspiration like the plumage of a hummingbird or a peacock to the more subtle combinations found in views over the muddy estuaries on the North Kent coast or a coastal walk in Cornwall where gorse meets moss on rocks shot through with streaks of copper - you just need to open your eyes and really look. It is the small details that can act as a catalyst for so many ideas and possibilities that translate from concepts to reality for our clients.
