As seen in…
In the July issue of Homes & Gardens I had a wee mention on the subject of 'The New Neutrals.' Not all my thoughts made it in to print, so here they are just for you.
"Colours based in nature are the neutrals of today. Clay, terracotta, rust, olive green and warm browns. Now we see colours that add to an interior, rather than disappear into the background as was the case with traditional neutrals like off-whites, greys and taupe. Neutrals are no longer colourless but a versatile backdrop, complimenting other shades and can really make art stand out."
'Clove' by Edward Bulmer on the walls of a Kensington sitting room is warm and elegant.
Earthy tones feel more liveable, characterful and warm, the antidote to the minimalism of stark white and cool greys, which can be seen impersonal. It is no longer the case that we reach for the white paint for a small room but rather we know to embrace the deep and moody options available in earthy pigments which provide depth and variation."
How colour confident are you?
